Angels Unaware
After my Eight long years of having seizures and Epilepsy we had a woman's retreat at "my" church where I was the music minister. At the very beginning we all, mostly "strangers", all of the ladies held hands for Jesus to "take away my Epilepsy". Oh didn't they know? I didn't have Epilepsy, it had me. It was who I was.
Two weeks later at 103 pounds I was admitted into the Hospital neurology department for two weeks in Las Angeles.and it was decided that I didn't have Epilepsy after all but complicated migraines that presented themselves as seizures but were TIA's (mini strokes) and brain inflammation.
Here is the neat part ( I am now a Lupus advocate and my symble is butterflies) once home my church family gave me a beautiful stained glass of a butterfly symbolizing "new beginnings".
Oh ye of little faith.

So... if you still have that cup of coffee, I have decided to post a separate Chronic Illness Blog. I mean, really... somebody may enjoy my Grace Notes until they get a little too much TMI and are afraid that they may be asked to come over and massage my bunions LOL. In 2005 I dedicated to God my art career to Him to advocate for Lupus awareness and the rest... financial security, up to Him. That hasn't changed. But the real days ins and days oust of living the life of pain just may be too much and can be more addressed through Chronic Illness. And accesss to my personel email and other social sites. What do you think!

It's Monday but do not send out your latest email. Monday mornings we are all behind from Friday. We would just disappear. Same for Friday. We're overwhelmed and we just want to close up our computer for the week. Once again any interest in our email disappears. Answer, email on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. As for weekends, especially Facebook communication, pour it on. We have a full audience. We will talk more about emails and the relevancy of them. Personally for me they are great to connect with people and yes I sell a lot of art that way AND received more students an music gigs. Now see? All of this really can be fun.

Years ago I was rushing Steven and Shannon to our car from one of my many jobs to the other and there is Steve playing with something w/ a stick. Moms, we've all been there. Steven! Hurry up! But Mommy we have to save it! It's not a dead mouse! It's a hummingbird and it's drowning!" Oh good grief. He patiently fed it nectar from one of my petunias and in the 106* Mojave Desert heat 45 minutes later it buzzed out into the desert. Alive. I was the hurried "Church Lady". Steven was the 11 year old "Good Samaritan" Yes this choir director/worship leader DID show up late and when I shared this story there wasn't a dry eye in church that night,

Unexpected pleasures... this morning I was able to lift my purple swollen stump of a leg 15 TIMES in bed! Yesterday it was only 4, I am not as fragile as I think I am, setting up my coffee the night before and rolling out to get my Sunday paper first thing in the morning, not making God drum his fingers and and just tell Him what I need. He already knows.. He just needs me to say it "ask and ye shall receive" that's called faith, my successful art and music career and being a mentor to other artists and musicians, the return of my "Artists Marketing Blogs" (by request) and my "Angels Unaware" blogs. I've had a lot of bad breaks... you too? Well God has healed them all.. man He must multitask well, If God has truly given me ALL that I need just for this day then "wowie zowie" now I can give the excess away.
I can start over tomorrow.

This is huge! I am now able to sit up in my bed and use my computer for the first time! Praise God!, taking ALL of my prescribed meds from my doctors and am doing better.... I just saw too many Percacet addicted women while in the woman's shelter and I didn't want to join the club... it had ruined their lives, when one lives alone it is really easy to be nice to people LOL, when I am happy my Sheltie is happy... chases his tail, pushes the Staples "now that was easy" button then bestows his treasured chewy to me, since May when my husband has taken all of my money from me my family has sacrificed thousands of dollars and their savings for me and then some as a "love offering"... but I know that with Gods help I WILL be able to pay then back, realizing that a divorce IS a death and it has been a healing blessing to mourn it's loss... anybody w/ me out there?, and hearing the garbage truck coming this morning and knowing that this week I was strong enough to put it on the street... probably from all of the prayers that have been made for me. I now hear that some neighbor is putting them away for me. It takes a village.

"Make your own kind of music, sing your own special song, even when nobody else sings along", planning a party for one, New Years resolution- have more fun, creating my own happy endings, caffeine- I "needs it!", pairing together new outfits with my old clothes, my new 'bling' black shoes that fit my swollen feet... too cute!, being able to stand today, the joy of being alive and never truly being alone.

The gift of sleep, taking the time to smell the candle before blowing it out, new commissioned artwork to work on today, marshmallows in my coffee, trying to type with one hand while I pet the dog with the other, wearing turquoise and white, ceiling fans, Casting Crowns and their song "Hear The Bells"... where's the hankie, more time in my art studio and a profusion of palmettos in my beautiful backyard... I love Florida!

I am thankful for my power wheelchair, independence, baking cookies and then, um, eating them... a cold brisk sunny day, knowing that God's time is not my time. remembering people's birthdays, and finding a pen and paper when I need one.

Learning to lean on other peoples faith as well as my own, my comfy and familiar neon green lounger w/ the hoodie and embroidered beach chairs and blinging w/ sequins, drawing pen and ink pet portraits while watching Christmas movies, putting my feet up because they are too swollen to walk... hence the pet portraits, helping myself before I call on others, my new Whole Living magazine subscription, and brushing my teeth.

Panda and I playing fetch with his stuffed monkey, a song in my heart, coming home to my sense of self, placing holds on 20 Christmas CD's at the library, buying long stemmed sunflowers for myself... because life is sweet, be bopping down to TCBY for some fat free peanut butter frozen yogurt, time with my daughter Shannon, and my favorite painting of all time "Silver Lining" returning back to me. I may have to keep this one.

Godiva Coffee first thing in the morning, my new vanilla flame less candles," driving myself" in my powered wheelchair down to have Chinese food and hitting the neighborhood garage sales, teaching Saturday morning voice lessons, reminding myself, yet again, "it's NOT all about me" and "get over my sweet self", meeting new neighbors and listening to great music on Pandora Radio.

OH MY GOSH! Yes I know my caps were on... last night my son, daughter in love and I went to the Jacksonville Symphony! The Heavens opened up and the angels took me away, new adventures, smiling so much your face hurts, being taken to church, new shows, new workshops, painting and playing music for an audience of One, and breezy Sundays.

Time with Steve for a day at the Mayo Clinic, a monarch chrysalis on my dining room table for me and my students to enjoy, simple "pigs in a blanket" and baked beans for dinner, a field trip to a garden center, being with people, the other side of the pillow and tomorrow being another day....

The water sprinkler got "bumped" and now it waters part of my patio and potted herb garden... works for me! Killing a scorpion with "Scrubbing Bubbles" bathroom cleaner... sucker didn't stand a chance, hanging out with my daughter Shannon on a Saturday afternoon, insurance covering my new $3000.00 antibiotic, making a rockin' salad for lunch, finding missing clothes in my closet only to discover that they're too big and my sister Michele and her generosity.
